E14 CITIES AND JURIES FORUM
The Cities and Juries Forum of the 14th session of Europan was organized by Europan Europe and Europan Finland on October 20 and 21, 2017 in Helsinki, at the Finlandia Hall designed by Alvar Aalto.
The Forum was attended by city representatives and juries of all the Europan sites. With the participation of Neda Lucev, the representative of Sibenik, a city that participates in the session with the former Electrode and Ferroalloy Factory site, the Forum was attended by the jury president, architect Iva Letilovic, and Europan Croatia representatives Helena Knifić Schaps, president, and Iva Bedenko, secretary.
The Cities and Juries Forum is a conference gathering sites (44 in E14 session) and jury representatives in discussions about the entries that have been preselected in the first round of jury meetings. More than 400 participants attended the forum.
One of the main goals of the Forum is the dialogue among the experts involved in the evaluation of the projects, before the final meeting of the national jury. The Forum provides an opportunity for structured and informal exchange of views between representatives of juries and representatives of city administration, and is implemented through workshops / round tables on which the pre-selected projects are being discussed. In addition to the lectures and discussions on the ideas and processes proposed in selected E14 entries, the implementation processes of award-winning entries from the previous sessions is also discussed, with particular reference to scale.
As part of the discussion on the implementation measures at the XL scale, the process of implementation of the “Swap on the River” project was presented, prize winner at the Europan 13 competition for 4 sites along the Sava River in Zagreb.
The second and final session of the jury of Europan 14 will be on November 11, 2017 in Zagreb, and the results will be announced at the European level in early December.
